We work with government-backed schemes such as ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) to secure funding for insulation, heating upgrades, surveys, EPCs, and retrofit assessments.
For many customers, this means improvements can be installed free of charge or heavily discounted.
How Government Funding Works
Two major funding schemes support energy-efficient home improvements across the UK:
🔹 ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation)
ECO4 is designed to help low-income, vulnerable, or fuel-poor households. It focuses on whole-house energy improvements and includes:
- Cavity wall insulation
- Loft insulation
- Solid wall upgrades (in some cases)
- Heating upgrades
- Solar (when part of a wider package)
- EPC improvements
- Retrofit assessments
If you qualify, improvements can often be installed with little or no cost to you.
ECO4 Eligibility Usually Includes:
- Certain income-related benefits
- Low household income
- Homes with low EPC ratings (D, E, F, G)
- Vulnerable / fuel-poor households

🔹 GBIS (Great British Insulation Scheme)
GBIS focuses specifically on insulation measures, helping to reduce heat loss and lower heating bills.
This scheme is open to a much wider range of households compared to ECO4.
GBIS can fund:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- Room-in-roof insulation
- Other insulation upgrades (depending on property type)
You may qualify based on:
- Your council tax band
- Your property’s EPC rating
- Whether you receive certain benefits
- Whether you’re a priority group household
GBIS is ideal for homes that lose heat quickly and want to improve comfort and cut bills.
